Ton Steine Scherben Singer Destroys Table

Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser was a journalist, producer and multiple record label owner (Ohr, Pilz, Kosmische Kuriere) before his love for LSD ended his business. It's likely that without him many krautrock musicians would have never had a chance to release an album.

Political rock band Ton Steine Scherben however, didn't like the fact that Kaiser had his activities with Ohr financed by publisher and business man Peter Meisel. After all, Meisel worked for the major label Hansa and had made himself a name in the horrific world of German schlager music.

When Ton Steine Scherben singer Nikel Pallat met Kaiser in a 1971 TV show, things went dramatically out of hand.

If you don't understand German and can't wait to see what happened, go to the scene that starts around 1 min. 50.

Pallat accused Kaiser of working for "capitalists" and thus being someone who kept the "system" intact, while Kaiser kept his cool and said that contributing to a TV show was also a way of supporting capitalism.

After the incident, Pallat took a microphone and said he needed it for those in a youth prison.

Oh, these lovely polemic 1970s!

But, wait a minute, how come Pallat was able to bring an axe into the studio?
